Katie is a horse trainer and riding instructor in "real life", the third generation on her family's horse farm in Virginia. She specializes in retraining Thoroughbred ex-racehorses for second careers in the Hunter/Jumper discipline. A 2008 Musical Theatre Performance graduate of Lynchburg College, her theatre training, background and directing experience heavily influence her writing.

Her non-fiction Mac/Eddy Blog can be found here: singingsweethearts.wordpress.com. She has done a tremendous amount of research in multiple states, along with research parter, Angela, and has added significant findings, data, and pieces of film to the MacDonald/Eddy story. She is the houser/curator of the collection now known as The JAM Project, which is everything that remains of Jeanette MacDonald's estate, plus the holdings of the defunct Jeanette MacDonald International Fan Club. An extensive MacDonald biography, replete with new information and long-hidden data is forthcoming.
